Traditional fibroid treatment involves the removal of the uterus in a hysterectomy procedure or heavy dosages of medication to dissolve the benign, smooth muscle masses. Either option has severe consequences during the child-bearing years, but now there are less invasive procedures and more natural ways.

But, what are fibroids? Read on to know everything about them, as well as how to get rid of fibroids using ordinary household products.

While they can present little to no symptoms, fibroids may grow large enough to cause health complications of localized organs.

Fibroids can be small, individual tumors that go undetected and cause no discomfort or pain. They also can grow as large as a melon, or multiple fibroids can develop in some women. And, as they grow, the tumors can force the uterus to expand and affect the bladder, kidneys, and even enter the rib cage.

Fibroids are also referred to as uterine fibroids, myomas, and leiomyomas. They are commonly seen in women during the reproductive years between the ages of 16 and 50.

Hormones are thought to play a big factor in the development of fibroids, as they occur in the presence of high estrogen levels and naturally begin to shrink during menopause when estrogen levels drop. Genetics, obesity, and vascular system problems also have an association with some fibroid cases. Fibroids are also common in women who have never borne children or began their menstrual cycle before the age of 10 years old.

Home Remedies and Diet Tips for Fibroids

Fibroids with no symptoms require no treatment and are usually left to dissolve on their own. In cases where heavy or prolonged bleeding occurs during the menstrual cycle, there are foods that shrink fibroids fast and other natural fibroid treatment options.

A fibroid diet plan is also used in cases with rectal and pelvic pressure, pelvic and lower back pain, and with bladder issues. Let’s look at how to get rid of fibroids without surgery.

1. Castor Oil

Castor oil has anti-inflammatory properties of ricinoleic acid to shrink the fibroid and treat associated pain. It can also destroy toxins by stimulating the production of lymphocytes and promoting good blood circulation.

Soak a piece of wool flannel in castor oil and apply it directly on the abdomen. Secure it with plastic wrap and apply a heating pad covered with a towel on top. After a one-hour treatment, remove everything and repeat three to four times each week over a one-month period.

This remedy is not recommended during menstruation or during the time of trying to conceive.

2. Chasteberry

Chasteberry is an herb used for centuries to combat reproductive hormone issues by reducing estrogen levels and inflammation. It should not be used during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or with the use of birth control pills.

Use chasteberry as a tea or ingest 25 to 30 drops of chasteberry extract three times each day.

3. Milk Thistle

Milk thistle is another natural herbal remedy not to be used during pregnancy or when trying to conceive. It targets high levels of estrogen.

Take 10 to 25 drops of milk thistle extract three times each day for three to four months.

4. Chamomile

Chamomile has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory components to shrink fibroids naturally. Simply add two or three teaspoons of chamomile flowers in boiled water and steep for three minutes. Strain and drink the tea once each day. You can add lemon juice for better taste.

5. Dandelion

Dandelion is used to help the liver function properly to detoxify the body. Use dandelion root to eliminate excess estrogen that may attribute to fibroid growth.

Simmer one and a half cups of water and three tablespoons of dandelion root for 15 minutes before straining and consuming the homemade tea. Drink three cups daily for three months.

6. Burdock Root

Burdock root helps to stimulate liver function. It has a natural component called lignan arctigenin, which is used to shrink fibroids and prevent new fibroid cell growth.

Steep one cup of water and one teaspoon of dried burdock root for 10 to 15 minutes. Strain and drink three times each day for three to four months.

7. Aloe Vera

Use the gel of this traditional medicinal plant to treat fibroid symptoms and the tumor itself. Combine a quarter cup of aloe vera juice, one cup of beet juice, lemon juice, and one or two tablespoons of unsulphured blackstrap molasses in a glass of water. Drink one glass daily.

8. Garlic

Garlic with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant components may reduce the size of tumors. It is one of the best natural remedies if you’re wondering how to shrink fibroids fast.

The vitamin C and B6 content and mineral components help estrogen imbalances. Simply chew three to five garlic cloves daily followed by a glass of milk or water.

9. Gooseberry

Alleviate symptoms and the fibroid itself with the immunomodulatory and antioxidant properties of gooseberry.

Consume a paste of honey and one teaspoon of gooseberry powder every morning on an empty stomach.

10. Turmeric

Use turmeric powder in your favorite meals. You may also want to boil two tablespoons of turmeric powder in water for 15 minutes. Steep for 40 minutes and drink once cooled.

11. Ginger

Reduce inflammation and pain with ginger while promoting good blood circulation. Use ginger roots to make a tea to drink throughout the day.

12. Green Tea

The epigallocatechin gallate component gives green tea its powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiproliferative properties. These can address fibroid symptoms while dissolving the tumors.

Consume two to three cups of green tea daily over a period of several months.

13. Olive Oil

Boost the immune system and prevent excess estrogen production with olive oil. Simply mix one tablespoon of olive oil and a few drops of lemon juice to create a drink to consume on an empty stomach. You can also make a tea with olive leaves.

14. Apple Cider Vinegar

Address various fibroid symptoms while reducing the size of the tumors with apple cider vinegar.

Drink a glass of water with one teaspoon of the vinegar daily. You can also add one tablespoon of blackstrap molasses or one teaspoon of baking soda.

15. Lemon

The natural juice of a lemon may shrink fibroids and treat accompanying symptoms. Drink a glass of water with two teaspoons of lemon juice and one teaspoon of baking soda daily.

16. Onion

Onions have antioxidant properties used to shrink fibroids and help to balance hormone levels. Munch on raw onions daily.

17. Soybeans

Regulate estrogen levels with the use of phytoestrogen in soybeans. Soy has protein to prevent the development of fibroids. Simply add them to daily meals such as stews and soups.

18. Fish

Fibroids may be eliminated with the omega-3 fatty acids found in cold water fish. Consume salmon, herring, and tuna three times each week.

19. Mushrooms

Reishi mushrooms are used to control histamine in the body and reduce the basic fibroblast growth factor.

Add three to five grams of reishi mushroom to four or five cups of boiling water. Simmer for two hours before drinking.

20. Milk

The nutrients in milk and milk products may prevent fibroid cell production. Add blackstrap molasses to warm milk to treat anemia occurring from heavy menstrual bleeding.

Also, create a mixture of warm milk and one teaspoon of coriander powder, triphala powder, and turmeric powder for consumption of twice each day.

How to Get Rid of Fibroids with Lifeystyle Changes

In addition to these homemade remedies, treatment should include eating a well-balanced diet of high-fiber foods such as dark leafy green vegetables, quinoa, beans, chia seeds, and whole grains. Also, incorporate low-fat foods and avoid red meat, fried foods, processed foods, alcohol, and caffeine products to prevent an increase in estrogen production.

Meditation and yoga exercises will help reduce physical and emotional stress and tension, as well as balance hormone levels. Use warm compresses to relieve pain in areas of the body affected by fibroids.

Fibroids are a common cause of pelvic and lower back pain in women during the reproductive years. While up to 80% of women between the ages of 16 and 50 develop fibroid tumors, many cases present mild to no symptoms.

Severe cases were once, and in some cases are still, treated with heavy medications and surgical procedures that offer severe consequences. You may be able to treat symptoms and shrink these benign tumors by using natural home remedies and making simple lifestyle changes.
